I've seen video of HOA members climbing a fence into someone's backyard, looking for infractions. Basically, trespassing on their property to find shit that you couldn't see unless you went on their property.

#2 where the body damage i see a truck that been well used personally to me it looks like the paint was rubed off and needs to be redone but i get that some thats a still it dont look like a junker but none of these are that bad i seen one where a guy was fine and had a lien put on his house so he couldn't sell it cause some people broken in while he was out of town and trashed his property so the hoa just fined him for all the infraction of criminals and now he stuck cause they want like 100k in fines

I’m fortunate in that my HOA is quite reasonable. We’re a small community of 55+ homeowners. Everyone pretty much knows one another. What you do inside your home is your business, but they must be restored to certain standards for resale. The outside must be neat, tidy, no extreme décor, ie. a 12 ft. high cement statue of the Virgin Mary in the front yard, derelict vehicles filled with trash, yard full of festering dog turds, commercial vehicles housed outside, blasting loud music, nude sunbathing in sight of others… The only one that really happened was the Virgin Mary. The man was painting it for his church. A compromise was reached by moving it to his garage, leaving the door open while working, and renting a spotlight to shine on it. He closed the garage at night and kept his vehicle in his driveway.

IDK why anyone would want to live in a HOA, it's like your house isn't yours. Too many insane rules.

Guilty! Just sold my HOA house and purchased a non-HOA house solely for that reason. Of course, on my way out the door, I had to pay $1200 in fines for improvements made over 7 years ago by the previous owner…just confirmed I made the right decision

It is apparent in some of these cases that there is likely personal vendettas going on. Using your power wrongfully to solve a personal squabble should cause dismissal of the person in power if it can be shown within a reasonable doubt.

I saw a recent video - heartbreaking, Z06 Corvettes. At least a couple in the video were $170,000+. (The content creator didn't spend much time on the invoices. Unsure of "market adjustments..") I don't know when the ZR1 will be out. I think it will be at least 900HP. A base Z06 is what - $112,500? Maybe do another $42K for the ZR1 engine - gets you to ~ $155K, base. The Yenko is probably worth it, as it a limited-run vehicle.

I bought my first home as a divorced mom of two little girls in Charlotte NC. I had never heard of HOAs and their "rules". I had abdominal surgery 3 weeks after moving in.. many moving boxes, still unopened were on my screened in back porch. Got a letter from the HOA that my boxes on my porch were an eyesore for my neighbors 👀...give me a break. I purchased a cobalt blue tarp and hung it on my porch to hide the eyesore from my nosy neighbors. I got a letter from the HOA.. your blue tarp is an eyesore... HOA rules say I can't have a clothes line in my yard except between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm, not on holidays and it must not be a permanent clothes line..has to come down end of day. I immediately strung a line across my backyard and hung bras, thongs, men's boxers with white polka dots I created using bleach... put it up everyday with same items for close to two weeks. Didn't hear a word, I felt silent revenge satisfaction.

HOA sounds like you're in prison. I have a friend who lives in a HOA and she has had trouble.

I absolutely will not buy a home if there is a Home Owners Association. I am paying a mortgage, not renting an apartment. I am going to do what I want in my house, as long as it's legal. Yes dealerships resale cars they've sold to you. Change the 🗝️ take off any former identifying dealer information. Use security bolts on rims. A lockinghood latch protects new repairs from fencing rings. Install a GoPro or tracking app tag if someone is key fobbing your vehicle. Spray your new parts as unique identifiers. Machine security screw sets to stop part swaps. Battery kill switch shuts off hot wire connection remotely . Only you can start up vehicle.

We lived in a house with an HOA. Just about the only rule that was enforced was that because we all had very large yards, people could not have fences. If someone had a pool, they could only have the fence around the pool and its deck. When the subdivision was built, satellites were the size of a small car so you couldn't have one of those either. The only problem we ever had was one person wanted a fence.

When house hunting if I see HOA I move on.

Two HOA stories: I was on an HOA board for many years, and president for 3 of them. There were more than 200 dwellings in the subdivision. Our biggest issues were unkempt yards (there were city ordinances covering this as well), non-operating vehicles and the clubhouse/pool/tennis court upkeep. The By-laws had been written up by the developers, so the Board had little leeway or discretion, but we did our damndest to use common sense and not be tyrannical. Second story relates to a place we rent for vacation and the HOA president decided she was judge, jury and executioner for any dispute and basically ignored the other board members. At one point she told the on-site manager (who did a fabulous job) to have the propane tank that was used to heat the pool and hot tub from its current site next to the pool to the parking lot "because the tank was ugly". The manager informed her that would be in violation of safety laws, so it got dropped. She was finally voted out as prez.

I do not like HOA, but it is quite large paint damage on that car and only because there are lots of people who likes this kind of paint damage, it does not undamage the paint. Also actually this seems even somewhat reasonable rule to not keep rustbuckets on plain sight. At least much more reasonable than many other horrible rules.
